Our Year 6 students WOWed their parents and peers with their PYP Exhibition yesterday, the highlight of their primary school years. It was their passion project where they picked a real-world problem or passion and looked for opportunities to take action and make a difference. It was clear to all that they worked really hard to research, think critically, and communicate their ideas clearly. We are so impressed with how they have developed into confident and caring young people, ready to make a positive impact. Well Done Year 6!

In our final unit of inquiry of the year, the Year 4s are taking a deep dive into "How We Organise Ourselves" - the persuasion unit where we look at how NGOs operate to meet the needs of society. Andrea Richey from the Hong Kong Shark Foundation 香港護鯊會 and Cathy Dannaoui from Hands On Hong Kong spoke with the Year 4s to develop an understanding of the difficulties and challenges these organisations face. Armed with this knowledge, the Year 4s will develop their ideal NGO to meet a specific global goal and persuade others to agree with their point of view. You've got this, Year 4!

The Year 1s enjoyed visiting HK Forest Adventures to support their How the World Works unit and learn more about materials. They explored rock pools, made their own paint out of clay, built rafts to sail down the river to go fishing and created their own adventure playground out of large loose parts. They were amazing at being risk-takers and weren’t afraid to get a little wet and mucky as they investigated the outdoors!

This week, artist Gail Deayton came to Kennedy School to support the Year 5s in their investigation into ancient civilisations. Gail had them thinking about modern hieroglyphics with each class coming up with a sentence that reflected them. Each sentence had 30 characters in it - 1 per student. They then thought of an object that related to their heritage which they made as their hieroglyphic, like pizza, football and clovers.
The symbols were then cut out and attached to cardboard and coloured with crayons. How many symbols can you recognise?
Many thanks to the PTA for supporting this activity with funds from the Olympics themed Dress Up Day held earlier this year!
