Chinese
Kennedy School's approach to learning the Chinese language caters to the diverse needs of students, fosters inquiry-based learning, and connects language learning to cultural contexts.
- Catering for Learning Diversity
There are various learning pathways for students to access the Chinese language and culture, which enable support and extension. - PYP Inquiry LearningThe school's Programme of Inquiry provides opportunities for integrating Chinese language learning across disciplines. This includes making meaningful links between Chinese language teaching and current units of inquiry, as well as developing standalone units that focus on exploring the Chinese language and culture.
- Learning in the Cultural Context
By blending in cultural elements, the Chinese curriculum provides students with opportunities to learn the language in authentic, culturally rich contexts, such as through the exploration and celebration of popular Chinese festivals like Mid Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year. We also run our very popular cultural and language immersion trip to Beijing each year with Year 6 students, a programme that has proven to be so popular that it has been adopted by many international schools.
