Chinese

Kennedy School's approach to learning the Chinese language caters to the diverse needs of students, fosters inquiry-based learning, and connects language learning to cultural contexts.

  • Catering for Learning Diversity
There are various learning pathways for students to access the Chinese language and culture, which enable support and extension.
  • PYP Inquiry LearningThe school's Programme of Inquiry provides opportunities for integrating Chinese language learning across disciplines. This includes making meaningful links between Chinese language teaching and current units of inquiry, as well as developing standalone units that focus on exploring the Chinese language and culture.
  • Learning in the Cultural Context
By blending in cultural elements, the Chinese curriculum provides students with opportunities to learn the language in authentic, culturally rich contexts, such as through the exploration and celebration of popular Chinese festivals like Mid Autumn Festival and Chinese New Year. We also run our very popular cultural and language immersion trip to Beijing each year with Year 6 students,  a programme that has proven to be so popular that it has been adopted by many international schools.

Sports and Swimming

Students have PE lessons every week in and around our fabulous school. We are fortunate to have the use of Hong Kong University’s Stanley Ho Sports Centre where students have weekly games sessions in the cooler months and swimming lessons in the warmer months.

We offer the unique opportunity for an extensive swimming programme for all year groups.

Expressive Arts

Watch your child's eyes light up as they dive into the world of music, dance, and drama. Our specially designed rooms provide the perfect setting for creative learning. It is where they  have fun, express themselves, and discover a lifelong love for the arts. Students look forward to their lessons and leave wanting more.

Learning and Innovation

At Kennedy School, we recognise that Learning and Innovation is more important than ever. Students have access to shared devices in Years 1 & 2, where our computational thinking and research projects involve a broad range of screen-based and screenless engagements.

As our students reach Year 3, we have 1-to-1 device provision to allow students to follow their inquiries at their own pace. Our school works on a blended model of Google and Apple services to enable our teachers to access the best innovations in education.

Our approach to technology at Kennedy School is very much led by pedagogy, the study of teaching and learning. We trial new technologies and services with a critical lens to examine which best supports our students.

No one can predict where the future of technology will take us, but by giving our students a broad range of experiences that keep purpose at the centre, we can build adaptive lifelong learners.

Environmental Commitment

At Kennedy School, students learn how nature and people are connected. We encourage children to love nature and understand the importance of all living things. Our beautiful rooftop garden is set up for learning where students explore plants and animals that are special to our area, grow their own food, and develop a lifelong love of the natural world.
