Throughout your child's educational journey, we are committed to regularly communicating with parents and taking a holistic approach to assessments and reports.
Assessment is an important part of our teaching and learning cycle at Kennedy School. We assess to identify what students know and what they need to learn next. This assessment of learning takes many forms: discussions, observations, classroom learning, as well as standardised tests which provide us with valuable information on how students are progressing year-on-year for their age group. We also work with students to develop their capacity to self assess - identifying their own strengths, stretches and ways to achieve their goals.
The international standardised assessments we participate in are:
- Primary Insight assessments (previously called InCAS) is a computer-based assessment, administered by the Cambridge Centre of Evaluation & Monitoring (Cambridge University Press & Assessment), which assesses reading, spelling, mathematics, arithmetic and developed ability.
- ISA (International Schools’ Assessment). These are online-based assessments that cover Mathematical Literacy, Reading, and Writing.

This diagram shows the 4 dimensions of Assessment. Although the 4 dimensions of assessment are not weighted the same, they all aim to provide evidence to inform learning and teaching.
Standardised tests help to measure learning and they capture what a student has learned at a particular ‘point in time’ and this helps us to also report on learning.
Throughout the year, parents are kept abreast of learning and progress with opportunities to discuss and engage in student learning.
